Nevada’s lowest wage workers will see larger paychecks now that the state’s minimum wage increased Saturday. ...

Paul Saginaw, owner of Saginaw’s Delicatessen in Circa Resort, said he’s found that when wages went up, labor costs were kept in check or lowered because they had less turnover, resulting in more experienced staff with better productivity.

Starting Saturday, most business owners around the state will have six months to prepare for a coming jump in the state’s minimum wage.

The Fair Wage Act of 2023, passed earlier this year, was a priority for Gov. Wes Moore (D) in his first year in office. The change accelerates [to Jan. 2024] the move to $15 per hour  as phased in under a 2019 law.

In 2019, when the Republican-controlled state Senate voted to raise Pennsylvania’s minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $9.50 an hour, John Schall, owner of El Jefe’s Taqueria, was one of the loudest vocal supporters of the potential wage hike.
